My “idea notebooks” are one of my best ideas ever, although I am certain that it is not completely original. I constantly cut things out of newspapers, magazines, and catalogs; things that appeal to me because of shape or color or composition. Whatever the reason is, I just like it.I used to have piles of these scraps everywhere and no good place to put them. For a while I had a drawer in my studio that I tossed them into, but they seemed to go in there and never come out. Some how I got the idea to use spiral notebooks. I just glue stick the cut- outs into a spiral notebook in no particular order. Sometimes I make notes next to the item regarding what I like about the picture. The notebooks are a low-cost investment and don’t take up much room. I often leaf through them when I need some inspiration or am ready for the next idea.
